REDI
January 2010 – present
As part of my journalism capstone class at MU, I am currently working with two other students to help create a Web 2.0 communication plan for REDI, the Regional Economic Development organization in the Columbia, Mo. area. A huge part of this plan includes setting up social media outlets for REDI in order to better communicate with its stakeholders and investors. After careful research, including a survey, we have created a blog for REDI staff to share their thoughts about economic development issues, and we hope to build on that so that community members would be willing to blog as well. In conjunction with the blog, we have created a Facebook fan page and Twitter account for REDI so it can better inform the community about what is going on, thus helping increase communication as well. This is an ongoing project that will continue throughout the semester, and we hope to build on what we have already accomplished. Below are some snapshots of what we have already set up for REDI.

SHAPE
February 2010 – April 2010
As part of my communication capstone class at MU, I worked with four other students to create a public relations campaign proposal for SHAPE, the sexual health awareness organization on campus. The proposal focused primarily on promoting the organization’s new sexual health website for students, as well as promoting the organization as a whole. This involved doing research, setting goals and objectives, creating programming, managing a budget and finding ways to evaluate our campaign. You can view the full written report here.

Friday Night Fever
August 2009 – December 2009
I, along with a colleague, edited the Friday Night Fever (FNF) website. FNF is KOMU TV 8′s coverage of mid-Missouri high school football, covering every high school team in the coverage area. I gathered and posted score updates, edited highlights using Avid Newscutter, updated polls and plays of the week, and edited team pages with final scores and records every Friday night. You can view the FNF website here.

KMOV TV 4
February 2009 – March 2009
KMOV is the CBS television affiliate in St. Louis. I worked for their sports department covering University of Missouri basketball through the software program CoverItLive.

The Columbia Missourian
January 2009
I created two multimedia components while working at the Columbia Missourian, one of two daily newspapers in Columbia, Mo.
This first one is a video of Columbia Public Schools Superintendent candidate Chris Belcher answering questions at a community forum. I shot and edited the video with the attempt to make it similar to the video that was made for Belcher’s opponent, who was at the same community forum two days earlier. You can view the video on the Missourian Web site here or watch it below.
The other one is an audio slideshow of Driving Force. Driving Force is the Columbia, Mo. power wheelchair soccer team. I gathered and cut the audio, and chose the photos to go along with it. You can view the slideshow here.
